Diathermy

Diathermy which is often referred to as shortwave diathermy creates an induction field that penetrates the tissue by use of wave therapy.

Within this field thermal effects can be achieved in deep tissue without heating the epidermis or subcutaneous fatty tissue. There are many physiological effects initiated such as increased cellular kinetic activities, blood perfusion, improved venous drainage, and pain reduction or alleviation. It is best used on conditions such as bursitis, myositis, sinusitis, neuritis, and arthritis.
